New Delhi. The T20 World Cup 2024 is slowly coming into its full swing. On Monday, two big teams in the tournament, South Africa and Sri Lanka, faced each other. This match proved to be very difficult for the batsmen of 2014 champions Sri Lanka. South Africa, who were looking for their first title, made them crave for every run. As a result, the match which was considered close, turned out to be one-sided. South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka for 77 runs in 19.1 overs. This is Sri Lanka's lowest score in T20 matches.

In the match played against South Africa on Monday, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. But Sri Lankan batsmen looked helpless in front of the African pace attack. Otenil Bartman gave the first success to the South African team. He dismissed opener Pathum Nissanka (3). After this, Sri Lankan batsmen kept coming and going.

Kusal Mendis scored the highest 19 runs for Sri Lanka. Angelo Mathews was the second top scorer of the team by scoring 16 runs. Apart from Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews, only Kamindu Mendis (11) could touch the double-digit mark.

4 batsmen including Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga could not even open their account. Talking about South African bowlers, Enrique Norkia took the most wickets. He sent 4 batsmen back to the pavilion. Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj took two wickets each. Bartman got one wicket.
