Actor Jaideep Ahlawat stunned everyone with his body transformation for the role of Jadunath Maharaj, a powerful nobleman from pre-independence India who preys on the weak and downtrodden, in the Netflix film 'Maharaj'. Now, speaking in an interview, he revealed that it was not an easy journey to go through the process. He lost around 26 kilos in just five months for the character. In the interview, Jaideep said that 'the physical transformation was very challenging physically. I had not been working out for almost a year, I had become very heavy after the lockdown. It was tough and painful. Thanks to Prajwal sir, my trainer, director Siddharth P Malhotra and all those people who believed that I could do it.' Jaideep said, 'This man thinks very differently. He feels that everyone is small in front of him. He has this belief. He does not get angry over small things. I had to do this first for myself and then for the audience. I was able to do this because of my director, my writer and my costume designer.

Some time ago, Jaideep had shared a series of pictures from his shooting days for 'Maharaja' on Instagram. He showed how he lost 26 kgs in just five months for the role. He wrote, “109.7 kgs to 83 kgs in 5 months. This is the physical transformation for the character of Maharaj. Thanks Prajwal sir @prajwal7542 for believing in me.” The post had before and after pictures of Jaideep. The picture from five months ago shows his big belly, which was later replaced by the new body.

The story of 'Maharaj'

Directed by Siddharth and produced by YRF Entertainment, 'Maharaj' stars Junaid Khan in the lead role, along with Jaideep and Shalini Pandey, as well as Sharvari. The film is based on true events from pre-independence India and is about Karsandas Mulji, a social reformer who challenged the status quo in a landmark legal battle. It released on Netflix.
