'People have a common perception about film and TV actors that their lives are very glamorous and full of glitz, but the truth is sometimes different.' This is what comedian Kapil Sharma's onscreen wife Sumona Chakraborty, famously known as Bindu and Bhuri, says. In her personal life, she considers the period of the Covid pandemic to be the most difficult time for her, when she had to make many financial compromises due to sitting at home without work.

Home loan had to be increased

Sumona tells that she had to increase her home loan due to Covid. She says, 'The period of Covid pandemic was very difficult for me. Mentally also it was a very challenging time for me because I was not in my best condition in terms of mental health. I was battling endometriosis. On top of that, when you do not have work and you have responsibilities, you have to take care of your parents, then everything is not easy. During Covid, we actors were completely sitting at home. We did not have the facility to work on zoom like corporate people. We were really unemployed because we get our daily wages on the same day we work. People think that everything is happy in our life but I am not from a filmy or business family that it does not matter whether there is work or not. I am from a very simple middle class Bengali family. My father was in service, so it makes a lot of difference. That year I would have finished my home loan but I could not do so because we had to run the daily expenses from the savings. It took me two more years to repay my home loan, because I had to run the house and also take care of the family, so people think there is a lot of glamour in it, but our struggle in life is the same.

Increased awareness of endometriosis

While people generally try to make their pictures and life look beautiful by applying filters on social media, Sumona spoke openly about her disease endometriosis. Sumona said, 'I have been suffering from this problem since 2011, due to which I follow necessary precautions regarding health and food. I did not share it after much thought. I shared it when I was in the mood. My thinking is that people are already seeing our reel side in TV and films, which is slightly different from real life, so I should share the truth on social media and after that post of mine, many people messaged me to know more. I believe that this spreads awareness. Like when Deepika Padukone talked about her mental health, many people were influenced by it. I myself met my specialist many years after that post.

I've done a show on adventure sports

Sumona is going to be a part of a stunt show like Khatron Ke Khiladi. How adventurous is she herself? On this she said, 'I like adventure a lot. I like travelling. I have done bungee jumping, sky diving, everything. I did a complete show on adventure sports in Switzerland. That is why I agreed to Khatron Ke Khiladi because I had time now, so I thought let's do it.'

Do you miss Kapil's show?

Does Sumona, who was a part of Kapil Sharma's show for a long time, miss that show and those colleagues? When asked this, she said, 'Those ten years were amazing. When one of our projects ended, he (Kapil) moved on and did another project and I am doing another project. That's it. As far as missing him is concerned, he is my colleague, but I have kept work and personal life completely separate. I don't consider work as home and home as work.'
