Surya gets a setback before T20 World Cup semi-final, Travis Head wins ICC crown

New Delhi. Suryakumar Yadav has suffered a setback in the ICC T20 rankings a day before the T20 World Cup semi-finals. Travis Head has become the world's number one batsman by surpassing Suryakumar Yadav in the latest ICC rankings. Australia's Travis Head achieved the number one ranking due to his excellent performance in the T20 World Cup. However, Australia is out of the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav became the number-1 batsman in December 2023.

Travis Head scored 255 runs with the help of two half-centuries in the T20 World Cup 2024. This also includes an innings of 76 runs played against India in the Super Eight match. Travis Head has moved two points ahead of Suryakumar (842 points) because of this. However, Suryakumar has a chance to regain the number one ranking. India has made it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup and Surya will get opportunities again.

England's Phil Salt and Pakistan's Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are also included in the top-5. West Indies' Johnson Charles is the only new player to make it to the top 10. He has gained four places. Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz has also gained five places.

In the bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah has jumped 44 places to reach the 24th position. Kuldeep Yadav has also reached the 11th position with a gain of 20 places. Spin all-rounder Axar Patel is the top Indian bowler with the eighth position. In the bowling rankings, England's Adil Rashid is at number one. Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan is second, Wanindu Hasaranga is third and Josh Hazlewood is fourth. Hazlewood has reached the fourth position with a gain of three places.

In the ranking of all-rounders, Marcus Stoinis has slipped from number one to number four. Sri Lanka's Hasaranga has regained the first position in the ranking of all-rounders. Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi is in second place and India's Hardik Pandya is in third place. West Indies' Roston Chase is in 12th place in the list of all-rounders with a gain of 17 places.
