Scored runs in IPL, challenged the selectors, will play for India, someday they will have to select me

Mumbai Assam's young batsman Riyan Parag, who has been making it to the Indian cricket team, batted explosively for Rajasthan Royals in this IPL season. He continued his excellent form shown in domestic cricket and scored more than 500 runs. Parag is so confident of his skills and abilities that he says with full confidence, “No matter what happens, I will play for India.”

“Someday you will have to pick me. That is my belief, I will play for India. But I don't know when I will play,” Parag told PTI.

The 22-year-old from Assam has scored 573 runs at a strike rate of nearly 150 while batting at number four for Rajasthan Royals in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the last five years of the IPL, the 2018 Under-19 World Cup winner had not even scored 200 runs in a season.

Parag said, “When I was not scoring runs, I had said in the first interview that I will definitely play for India. This is my belief in myself. This is not my ego. When I started playing cricket at the age of 10, this was my plan with my father (former Railway and Assam player Parag Das).”

Harbhajan Singh's message to the team management, Hardik Pandya has suffered a lot, if the T20 World Cup is for him then…

It is likely that Riyan will be selected for the Zimbabwe tour along with Abhishek Sharma and Harshit Rana. Parag said, “Whether it is the next tour or a tour in six months or a tour in a year, I have not thought about when I will play. It is the job of the selectors, it is the job of other people.”
