New Delhi. If there is a long delay in the flight after boarding, then now the passengers will not have to wait long while sitting in the plane. Airlines companies will now have to give permission to passengers to exit the plane through the departure gate of the airport. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has given new instructions in this regard. These new instructions have come amid increasing incidents of airport congestion and flight delays, due to which passengers remain stranded for a long time after boarding the plane.

BCAS Director General Zulfikar Hasan said on Monday that the guidelines were issued to airlines and airport operators on March 30. These have now been implemented. Hasan said airport operators will have to make arrangements for infrastructure, including screening, to implement the guidelines. The decision to deboard the passengers will be taken by the respective airlines and security agencies. Hasan gave this information to journalists after the function organized on the 38th foundation day of BCAS.

There will be no long wait after boarding
Hasan said that new guidelines have been issued for the convenience of passengers. They will not have to sit inside the plane for a long time after boarding. In case of long flight delays and other emergencies after boarding, passengers will be allowed to exit through the departure gates of the respective airports.

Passengers seen eating food at the airport
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security had imposed a fine of Rs 1.80 crore on IndiGo and Mumbai airport operator MIAL on January 17 this year. It was installed after pictures of passengers eating food near the plane surfaced. On January 14, as soon as the diverted Goa-Delhi flight landed at Mumbai airport after a long delay, many passengers came out of the IndiGo plane. Some sat on the tarmac and started eating food there.

Smart security lane will be established
Hasan said domestic air traffic is increasing and around 3,500 flights take off every day. The aviation security watchdog will also install smart security lanes to ensure a better experience for passengers at the airport. Full-body scanners are likely to be operational at Bengaluru airport this month. In the coming time, these scanners will be started at airports with annual passenger traffic of more than 50 lakh.
