Pahlaj Nihalani called David Dhawan selfish, said- he betrayed Govinda

Pahlaj Nihalani does not have good relations with Govinda.

Pahlaj Nihalani, who has made many films with Chunky Pandey and Govinda, said, 'I am still very close to Chunky Pandey. But it is not the same with Govinda, although I have made four films with him, two of which never got made due to some controversy. Govinda was very innocent, he never came for the outdoor shooting of Bhai Bhai. The film had two stars, Govinda and Chunky Pandey, but when they did not shoot for it, I made the film with new actors Samrat Mukherjee and Manik Bedi. Originally it had Govinda and Chunky. We also did the Muhurat Puja and three days of shooting for the film. So my relations with Govinda were never good.'

Pahlaj Nihalani further told how he helped Govinda in difficult times. 'Whenever he had any problem, he came to me and I made films with him. When he was looking for work, I gave him work. I introduced him, gave him a chance to work in a big film. When he did not have work, I gave him Shola Aur Shabnam. Once the film became a hit, the ups and downs started again. He came back and within four days, without any director, I started shooting Aankhen with him.

He then accused David of misleading Govinda. 'David Dhawan is a selfish person. He tricked Govinda. I still don't know what he told him, but Govinda never came to the sets of Bhai Bhai even though the entire crew was waiting for him in Hyderabad. From there, the misunderstanding between Govinda and me grew further. Govinda had become very unpredictable. He was very superstitious. You couldn't trust him. He would suddenly fall ill on seeing a particular colour or looking at someone's face. However, he didn't do anything like that on my sets. He had even stopped doing Avatar on David Dhawan's advice.
