There is another way to go to Afghanistan, that is, you can cross the Shir Khan border from Tajikistan (this border is close to the Afghan city of Kunduz). Once you reach there, you will get a visa on arrival which costs 150 US dollars (about 12 thousand) and all the paperwork will take a few hours. From Kunduz you can easily reach Mazar-e-Sharif. This border is most convenient especially for those going to the Wakhan Corridor.
