New Delhi. Lucknow Supergiants bid goodbye to IPL 2024 by defeating Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in their last league match. Mumbai's batsmen got buried under LSG's huge score. LSG, captained by KL Rahul, won 7 out of 14 matches while losing the same number of matches. This is the 10th defeat of Mumbai Indians in 14 matches. The Mumbai team, captained by Hardik Pandya, remained at the bottom in the points table with 8 points.

Chasing the target of 215 runs, Mumbai Indians scored 196 runs for 6 wickets. Rohit Sharma and Dewald Bruise, who came as impact subs, gave a good start to the team by making a partnership of 88 runs for the first wicket. Bruise was out after scoring 23 runs, while Krunal Pandya gave the second blow to Mumbai by getting Suryakumar Yadav caught by Ravi Bishnoi. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 68 runs in 38 balls. Captain Hardik Pandya was caught out by Mohsin on the personal score of 16. Bishnoi gave the fifth blow to Mumbai by sending Nehal Vadhera to the pavilion on a personal score of one run. Naman Dheer returned unbeaten after scoring 62 runs.

Earlier, on the basis of Nicholas Puran's explosive innings of 75 runs in 29 balls, Lucknow Supergiants scored 214 runs for 6 wickets. Apart from hitting five fours and eight sixes in his innings, Puran pulled the team out of a difficult situation by sharing a partnership of 109 runs in 44 balls with captain Lokesh Rahul (55). Rahul hit three fours and as many sixes in his innings of 41 balls. In the last overs, Ayush Badoni (22 not out on 10 balls) and Krunal Pandya (12 not out on seven balls) made an unbroken partnership of 36 runs on 17 balls for the seventh wicket, taking the team to a big score.

Nuwan Thushara and Chawla took 3-3 wickets.
For Mumbai, Nuwan Thushara took three wickets for 28 runs while Piyush Chawla took three wickets for 29 runs. All the other bowlers of the team proved to be very expensive. Thushara gave out Devdutt Padikkal LBW in the very first over without opening the account. Marcus Stoinis reduced the pressure by hitting three fours against Anshul Kamboj while captain Lokesh Rahul welcomed Piyush Chawla with two sixes in the sixth over. However, this experienced bowler gave a big success to Mumbai by LBWing Stoinis in the same over.

LSG's score in powerplay was 49 runs for 2 wickets.
After the powerplay, the team's score was 49 runs for two wickets. Chawla ended Hooda's innings of 11 runs in nine balls in the 10th over. After Puran came to the crease, LSG's run pace increased. While Rahul was focusing on running from one end and stealing runs, Puran Kamboj increased the run pace by hitting three sixes and two fours in the next two overs. After scoring 22 runs in the 13th over, he hit two sixes against Hardik Pandya in the next over. He completed his half-century in 19 balls by hitting two consecutive sixes against Arjun. Thushara dismissed Pooran and Arshad Khan (0) on the last two balls of the 17th over, while Chawla ended Rahul's composed innings on the first ball of the next over, due to which LSG lost three wickets in three consecutive balls. Badoni and Krunal did not let the run pace slow down. Badoni hit two sixes and a four against Romario Shepherd in the last over.
