According to the Meteorological Department, this cyclonic storm will cause heavy rains in the coastal districts of West Bengal and North Odisha on 26 and 27 May.

The Meteorological Department office has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in coastal districts of West Bengal and North Odisha on May 26-27. Storm waves up to 1.5 meters are expected in low-lying areas of coastal West Bengal and Bangladesh when the storm hits the coast. In view of the possible impact of cyclonic storm Ramal, Kolkata airport officials have predicted storm waves up to 1.5 meters for 21 hours from Sunday afternoon. It has been decided to suspend flight operations. An official gave this information. The precautionary step has been taken after a meeting of stakeholders of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport on Saturday.

NSCBI Airport Director C Pattabhi said in a statement, “In view of the impact of cyclone Ramal in the coastal areas of West Bengal including Kolkata and the possibility of strong winds and heavy to very heavy rains in Kolkata, a meeting was held with the stakeholders. Due to this, it has been decided to suspend flight operations from 12 noon on May 26 to 9 am on May 27.
