The biggest decline in unsold houses has happened in Pune.

New Delhi. Due to sales being higher than new supply, the number of unsold houses in nine major cities of the country declined by seven percent to about 4.81 lakh units in the last three months. According to PropEquity, a firm that analyzes real estate sector data, the number of unsold houses in nine major cities at the end of March this year was 4,81,566. This figure was 5,18,868 units at the end of December 2023.

These nine cities are Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Delhi-NCR (Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad), Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata. Sameer Jasuja, Founder and Managing Director (MD), PropEquity, said that the number of unsold houses has come down due to more sales than new arrivals. He said that more houses are being sold than new ones coming up, which is a good sign for the market.

The number of unsold houses has declined the most in Pune by 13 percent. In December 2023, it was 75521 units which has come down to 65788 units. The number of unsold houses in Delhi NCR was 31602 on December 23, which has now come down to 27959. This is a decline of 12 percent.

In Mumbai this number has fallen from 54,633 to 48399. This is a decline of 11 percent. In Navi Mumbai too, the number of unsold houses has declined by 11 percent from 37597 units to 33385 units. There is a 5 percent decline in the number of unsold houses in Thane. There is a 5 percent decline in the number of unsold houses in Bengaluru. There is a 4 percent decline in the number of unhoused people in Hyderabad.
