Chennai Super Kings got their first blow on just the sixth ball. After this, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad held one end till the last over. He was supported by Shivam Dubey who came in the end and scored 66 runs in 27 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 3 fours. Ruturaj returned after scoring 108 not out.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained the team for a long time and batted in the lower order but could not reach a century.
