CUET: Why did the students get angry?
There is not just one reason but many. This year NTA has made many changes in the CUET exam pattern. Said that after this there will be no problems like before. But like the last two years, this year too lakhs of students are facing problems from the very first day. So far three big reasons have emerged-
First reason: Problem in CUET admit card
National Testing Agency released CUET admit card on 13th May. Children started downloading their CUET hall tickets. Then the next day NTA said – Download CUET Hall Ticket from the evening of 14th May. If you've done it before, do it again. Your examination center can be changed. Students started downloading CUET UG Hall Ticket after 14th evening. But this time the website was not opening. NTA helpline was also not working. People were not able to download/print the admit card for hours. Whereas the exam was the next morning.
NTA's clarification- A post came on NTA Twitter at 1 pm – 'If there is any problem in downloading the admit card, then students can take the exam by reaching the examination center with their old admit card (issued on May 13).'
Second reason: CUET exam postponed
CUET exam 2024 was to start on May 15 at 10 am. The children had completed the preparations. NTA had given strict instructions that they would have to reach the center by 9 o'clock, otherwise they would not be allowed entry. Then about 11 hours before the exam, a notice comes – 'CUET UG exam of 15th May in Delhi is being postponed.' News started appearing on media websites. But no information was given on NTA's Twitter and CUET website even till 11 pm. Nor did NTA consider it necessary to explain the reason behind this decision.
NTA's clarification- There was less manpower for voting in Delhi due to election duty of teachers and staff and polling booths being in schools.
Third reason: CUET center closed
NTA had said that the examination will be postponed only at Delhi centers on May 15. The examinations will be held in Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida and all other places. But, when the children reached a CUET examination center in Faridabad, it was locked. A notice was pasted outside – 'NTA CUET UG 2024 examination at Faridabad Model School Center has been postponed and the new schedule will be announced soon on the NTA website.'
NTA's clarification- The examination of those children who had filled the first choice in Delhi but got the center Faridabad, has been postponed. Their exam will also be taken on 29th May in Delhi.
