New Delhi: Under the policy of zero tolerance against corruption, CBI has taken strict action against its own officers. CBI said that CBI exposed a conspiracy going on in Madhya Pradesh with the alleged connivance of some of its own officers, officials of nursing colleges and Patwaris of the state. The CBI said that following the High Court order, the ACB team of CBI Bhopal had formed seven core teams and three-four auxiliary teams to conduct statewide inspections. These teams included CBI officers, officers nominated by nursing colleges of Madhya Pradesh and Patwari. The objective of these inspections was to ensure that the nursing colleges meet the norms and standards set for nursing colleges in terms of infrastructure and faculty.
Arrested red handed while taking bribe of Rs 10 lakh
The CBI said the investigation revealed that while monitoring the inspections being conducted by various teams, officers from a supporting team including CBI Inspector Rahul Raj were involved. They were allegedly found involved in corrupt activities. It was observed that he was giving favorable inspection reports by taking bribe. This bribe was being taken through middlemen. The CBI took immediate action and a case was registered against 23 people including Inspector Rahul Raj, 3 other CBI officers and middlemen. The CBI alleges that on Saturday, Inspector Rahul Raj was arrested red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from Anil Bhaskaran and his wife.
CBI recovered many objectionable documents
After this action, CBI New Delhi raided 31 locations in Bhopal, Indore, Ratlam and Jaipur. In this, cash worth more than Rs 2.33 crore, 4 gold bars, 36 digital devices and more than 150 incriminating documents were recovered. CBI said that in this case, 13 accused including CBI Inspector Rahul Raj, CBI-affiliated MP Police Inspector Sushil Kumar Majoka, Om Goswami working as a broker, Ravi Bhadauria, Jugal Kishore and three women have been arrested. All the arrested accused were presented in the court. From where all the accused have been sent to CBI custody till May 29. CBI has also started administrative action against the guilty officers.
