What did UGC say?
Now the UGC has asked the principals of all universities and colleges in the country to impart training in Basic Life Support (BLS) to all students, teachers and staff with the help of doctors and medical fraternity.
Giving statistics, UGC has said that only 0.1% of the people in the country have knowledge of BLS technology. Now this training should be included on a large scale in the education sector. The more people get this training, the more lives it will be possible to save.
Cardiac arrest: 3 to 10 minutes are crucial
Earlier, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya had also taken CPR training and appealed to the people that everyone should take this training. The Health Ministry is also helping the organizations in this campaign.
Experts say that 3 to 10 minutes is very important in case of cardiac arrest. A study has revealed that every year about one million people die in the country due to cardiac arrest alone. If a trained person tries to save the life of the victim, then about three and a half lakh lives can be saved.
What is CPR?
A special technique is used in CPR, which puts pressure on the heart muscles before taking the sick person to the hospital, so that he can be kept alive. In case of cardiac arrest, the heart is unable to supply blood to the rest of the body including the brain and lungs. In such a situation, this technique can save the patient's life.
