Johannesburg. The South African team got the success it was waiting for in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Former captains and cricketers are very happy with this historic success of the team. Graeme Smith and Dale Steyn, who have suffered the pain of losing important matches in ICC tournaments, are very happy with South Africa reaching the final of the T20 World Cup.

South Africa entered the final by winning a one-sided match against Afghanistan. After winning the toss, Rashid Khan decided to bat first but the fast bowling trio of Kagiso Rabada, Enrique Norkhia and Marco Jensen broke the back of the batting in the beginning. After losing 6 wickets for 28 runs, the team was all out for just 56 runs in 11.5 overs. South Africa won by losing 1 wicket in 8.5 overs and confirmed its place in the final of an ICC event for the first time.

South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the semi-finals to reach the final where it will face either India or England. Former captain Smith tagged current captain Aiden McCrum on Instagram and wrote, “We have reached the final. I am very happy for you and the team. Just another victory.”

“I'm so emotional. We're in the final. It's great to see this. I'm overwhelmed,” wrote Steyn, the top fast bowler of his time.
