27 lakh advance, ₹9 month rent, why are Bollywood actors liking rented houses?

Apart from Imran Khan, there are many actors who have taken apartments on rent. These include Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aryan, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif. At the same time, many Bollywood actors are earning good rent by renting out their properties.

Deal with 27 lakh security deposit
According to the leave and license agreement shared by Zapkey, Imran Khan has rented a three-storey apartment located in Cliffpet on Carter Road, Bandra from Karan Johar. This agreement was registered on March 20, 2024 with a security deposit of Rs 27 lakh. At the same time, there are some actors in Bollywood who can buy a house but prefer to take a flat on rent due to their desire to buy a sea-facing house. This may also be because sea view apartments are not available for sale.

Why do artists take houses on rent?
Sandeep Reddy, co-founder of Zapkey, said, “People often avoid making big investments like buying a house due to unstable income, so they prefer to buy flats on rent. According to Ritesh Mehta, Senior Director & Chief, Residential Services & Developer Initiatives, JLL, West & North, many Bollywood celebrities prefer premium sea-facing apartments which may not be easily available for sale in the location of their choice. .

“Many actors prefer to take a flat on lease first and look for a good house. Once they find an apartment of their choice, they finally buy it. There have also been cases in which newcomers decide to rent a home first as they may not be able to buy an apartment at the beginning of their career. Additionally, their earnings are not regular and they may not like to commit to regular EMIs.”
