New Delhi. Half round of IPL 2024 is over. Some teams including RCB have played 8-8 matches while some teams including CSK have played 7-7 matches. After the half round of IPL is over, two things are being discussed the most. The first is which teams are ahead in the race for the playoffs and whose hopes are being dashed. Second, which players are staking their claim for the T20 World Cup to be held in June and whose claims have become weak.

The Indian team for the T20 World Cup to be held in June is to be announced on May 1. That means, after 10 days, the names of those players will have been announced, who will be responsible for making India the world champion. Talking about the present time, nothing seems to be resolved in the Indian team. It is not decided who will go to the three fields of batting, bowling or wicket-keeping.

IPL 2024: Irfan and Kaif clashed over giving out to Kohli, the third veteran said – I say with a thud that Virat was not out.

Expensive deal of IPL: Boat sinking a cricketer worth Rs 24 crores, one wicket worth Rs 4 crores, Indian bowler worth Rs 20 lakhs saved his honour.

Due to Yashasvi Jaiswal being out of form, the selectors have to look towards another opener. Shubman Gill's form is also shaky. Yashasvi has scored 121 runs in 7 matches at an average of 17.28, in which his highest score has been 39 runs. Gill has scored 298 runs in 7 matches at an average of 42.57. His best score has been 89 runs. There is no doubt that Gill's performance is decent so far, but he will have to improve it further to go to the World Cup.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has scored 257 runs in 7 matches at an average of 36.71 and strike rate of 215.96. This includes three half-centuries. He has scored 24 centuries in the tournament, which is more than any Indian batsman. Only Heinrich Klaasen (26) has been able to hit more sixes than him in the tournament.

If Yashasvi Jaiswal does not score runs in the next 10 days, then the selectors will have to consider a new name for opening. Abhishek Sharma's name will also be in front of him. However, it will be interesting to see whether in the biggest event like the World Cup, the selectors bet on a new player or choose a player who has enough experience.
