World University Ranking 2025 released, IIT-Delhi ranked 150th and Delhi University at what number

New Delhi: There has been a significant improvement in the ranking of the country's Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and universities in the World University Rankings-2025. If we look at this time's list, the number of Indian educational institutions has increased to 46. In 2015, there were only 11 Indian universities. Now their number has increased by 318 percent. Two IITs of India have got a place in the top 150 institutions of the world. The previous ranking of IIT Bombay was 149, in which it has reached 118th position with an improvement of 31 points. IIT Delhi has improved its ranking by 47 points and has secured 150th position. In the previous QS ranking, IIT Delhi was at number 197. There has also been a very good improvement of 79 points in the ranking of Delhi University. This time DU has got 328th rank. However, there is no Indian institution in the top 100 in the QS World Rankings. The ranking of most of the 46 Indian institutions included in the QS World University Rankings has improved. JNU's ranking has improved by 21 points to reach 580. Jamia Millia Islamia's ranking has also improved compared to earlier and it is between 851-900. Banaras Hindu University's ranking remains at 1001-1200. Aligarh Muslim University's ranking is also between 1001-1200 this time like last time. Delhi's IP University's ranking has improved by two points and it is now between 1001-1200.

IITs are still the best institutes in the country

The country's IITs are at the top in the QS rankings. Apart from IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur has got 222nd rank. IIT Madras has got 227th rank, IIT Kanpur has got 263rd rank, IIT Roorkee has got 335th rank and IIT Guwahati has got 344th rank. Indian Institute of Science has got 211th rank and it has improved by 14 points. The representation of Indian universities is also increasing at the fastest rate in G20 countries.

India ranks third in Asia

If we look at the list of institutions from different countries included in the ranking, the Indian higher education system ranks seventh globally and third in Asia in terms of representation. Asia follows Japan (49 universities) and China (71 universities). QS has prepared this ranking keeping in mind sustainability and employability.

America's MIT ranks first in top 10 universities

Among the top 10 universities of the world, America's MIT is at number one. London's Imperial College has got the second position. Harvard University and Oxford University are at third place, Cambridge University is at fifth, Stanford University is at sixth, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is at seventh place. After that are National University of Singapore, UCL of England and California Institute of Technology of America.

The QS (Quacquarelli Simonds) World University Rankings portfolio was launched in 2004. The ranking is based on comparative data about the performance of the world's top universities. This ranking system is considered very important worldwide and students also take QS rankings into account when choosing a university abroad.
