The villagers of Kuti spend only 6 months in their village. This village situated in the lap of Himalayas is completely covered with snow in winter. Even after seventy decades of independence, there is neither electricity nor any health center here. Villagers earn their living only through farming. Some people here also participated in Indo-China trade. But due to closure of trade for the last 4 years, this business has also gone cold. There is only one shop in this last village of the border, which is populated by ITBP soldiers apart from the visiting tourists.

These very inaccessible areas of Pithoragarh district have special importance in religious beliefs. This is the mythological route to reach Kailash Mansarovar, the abode of Lord Shiva, which is also called the route to heaven.
