Some players have performed well here but the performance of captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal was not as expected. Both of them have definitely scored centuries this season but apart from that they could not leave any impact.
The first option for opening for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup is the pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. In Test cricket, both of them continuously open the innings for India. This pair has been a hit in this format. Both of them will have a big responsibility in T20. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are known for aggressive batting, so the team management will trust this pair. However, along with Rohit, Virat Kohli can also be sent to open the innings.
Rohit Sharma has failed to score runs in his last few matches. In the last match played against Kolkata Knight Riders, he scored only 19 runs while before that he was able to score only 4 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. 11 runs against Kolkata whereas in the first match played with Lucknow, only 4 runs were scored from his bat. Even against Delhi Capitals, Rohit Sharma could score only 8 runs. Rohit Sharma has scored 349 runs in 13 matches so far this season. This also includes an inning of 105 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will open with Indian team captain Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup but his recent form has not been good. This season, he has touched the figure of above fifty in only two matches. One of these is a century inning which was seen against Mumbai Indians and the other is an inning of 67 runs which was played against Hyderabad. Apart from this, he has played innings of 10, 0, 24, 39, 19, 24, 4 and 24 runs. Like Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal has played 13 matches and has 348 runs in his account. This also includes an inning of 104 runs.
