Chennai. Sunrisers Hyderabad has performed well in the Indian Premier League. They made it to the playoffs by finishing in the top two. After losing the qualifier, they made it to the finals through Eliminator 2. Pat Cummins, who has tasted success in ICC tournaments as a captain, is close to achieving another milestone by winning the Indian Premier League title on Sunday. The Australian captain knows that every good thing comes to an end.
Cummins has had a great journey over the last year in which he led Australia to success in the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup. He will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad against former champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of IPL 2024 on Sunday and will try to give the team its second title. Cummins said ahead of the IPL final, “It would be great to win the title but this journey will end at some point.”
He said, “These two years have been great, but I have never led a T20 cricket team before this series. So I don't know what to expect. This format is very fast-paced.
Assessing his team's performance in this season of the tournament, Cummins credited the mix of experienced and young players. He said, “Our bowling line-up is very experienced, which includes Jaydev Unadkat and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Apart from this, many youngsters have also won matches for us on their own, including Nitish Reddy and Abhishek Sharma. We also have players who have been out of the Indian team but have performed brilliantly for us. Our team's journey so far has been like this.”
