NEET Cancellation 2024: What is the old case?
This is the year 2015. When there was no name of NEET. The national level medical entrance exam for admission in MBBS, BDS used to be AIPMT- All India Pre Medical Test. CBSE used to organize AIPMT.
The news of paper leak had spread. There were allegations that the answer key of the question paper was delivered to the students through electronic devices at many examination centers. The exam was held on May 3 and the results were to be declared on June 5. But the court ruled on June 15 that the medical entrance exam should be canceled and the exam should be held again in 4 weeks.
Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar, on behalf of CBSE, had argued in the apex court that 'only 44 students have been found involved in rigging. For this, 6.3 lakh students cannot be made to take the exam again.' On this, the bench of Justice AK Agarwal and Justice Amitabh Roy had said – 'If even a single student takes advantage illegally, then the entire exam gets spoiled.'
NEET Re-Exam 2024: Will NEET 2024 exam be held again?
This year more than 24 lakh students appeared in NEET. This is three times more than AIPMT 2015. There is also the matter of paper leak and the result also points towards a scam in NEET. However, NTA has given its clarification on every allegation. But petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding NEET re-examination. The court has said that it will hear the case in July. But there is a difference between then and now – then the result was stayed. This time the stay was refused.
Only the Supreme Court will tell what will be the final decision of the court. But looking at the developments and timeline so far, the cancellation of NEET 2024 seems a bit difficult.
