But Tajdar Amrohi does not consider it right to compare Sharmin Sehgal's acting with Choti Maa Meena Kumari. Talking to 'Zoom', he said, 'I do not know Sharmin. Tajdar Amrohi further told how much Sanjay Leela Bhansali respected his father Kamal Amrohi. When asked if there is any similarity between 'Heeramandi' and 'Pakeezah', he said, 'I don't want to talk about this because Bhansali has been a big fan of my father Kamal Amrohi. In every film of his, Bhansali tries to take shots in the same way as my father used to do. 15 years ago when Bhansali came to Kamalistan Studio, he touched the place where my father used to sit.'

'Heeramandi' streamed on OTT platform Netflix on May 1 and it has been a hit series. The makers have now announced its second season as well. 'Heeramandi' featured many stars including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Adhyayan Suman and Shekhar Suman.
