Market out on first day of new financial year, Sensex rose 363 points, Nifty closed beyond 22,450

New Delhi. Today i.e. on Monday (April 1), the opening day of the new financial year, the stock market closed on a strong note. At the end of trading, the Sensex based on 30 shares closed at 74,014.55 points with a rise of 363.20 points or 0.49 percent. At the same time, Nifty of National Stock Exchange based on fifty shares also closed at 22,462.00 points with a gain of 135.10 points or 0.61 percent.

Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Adani Ports, Shriram Finance and NTPC were the top gainers of Nifty in Monday's trade. Whereas Eicher Motors, Titan Company, Bharti Airtel, LTIMindtree and Nestle were the top losers.

Sensex had risen 655 points on the last trading day of the last financial year.
There was a strong rise on March 28, the last trading day of the last financial year. At the end of trading, the Sensex closed at 73,651.35 points with a gain of 655.04 points or 0.90 percent. At the same time, Nifty of National Stock Exchange also rose by 203.25 points and closed at 22,326.90 points.

Government to raise Rs 16,507 crore from disinvestment in 2023-24
The government has raised Rs 16,507 crore by selling minority stake in public sector enterprises in the financial year 2023-24. This amount is less than the revised estimate of the government. During the financial year 2023-24, the government sold stake in 10 CPSEs through OFS. The government got Rs 4,186 crore from stake sale in Coal India, while it got Rs 2,488 crore and Rs 2,129 crore from share sale in NHPC and NLC India respectively. In the budget, the central government had estimated to raise Rs 51,000 crore from disinvestment for 2023-24.

Suzlon Energy gets penalty order of Rs 260.35 crore from IT department
The National Faceless Assessment Center (Income Tax Department) has issued orders imposing penalty on Suzlon Energy for the financial years 2016 and 2017. This will have an impact of Rs 260.35 crore on the financial, operational or other activities of the company.
