In 1994, after a one-minute role in Govind Nihalani's 'Drohkaal', Manoj Bajpayee got the biographical drama 'Bandit Queen' (1994). Casting director Tigmanshu Dhulia had suggested Manoj's name to director Shekhar Kapur. At that time Manoj was also working in the TV series 'Kalakar', which was directed by Hansal Mehta. Manoj did films like 'Dastak', 'Tamanna', 'Daud' and 'Satya', but he got tremendous popularity from Anurag Kashyap's 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.
