New Delhi: When the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on 24 June, it was believed that this time there would be a fierce battle between the ruling party and the opposition. However, hardly anyone would have thought that such a thing would be seen for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Yes, for the first time in history, elections are going to be held for the Lok Sabha Speaker. The candidates for the post of Speaker have come forward from the ruling party i.e. the BJP-led NDA and the opposition Bharat Gathbandhan. They have also filed their nominations. The picture that came during the nomination is also telling a lot. The way candidates have been fielded from both sides, the contest will be interesting. The special thing is that the armies of both sides are ready in the battle of Lok Sabha. Now it has to be seen who wins.

NDA vs India for the post of Speaker

Om Birla has filed his nomination for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker on behalf of the BJP-led NDA. He was also the Lok Sabha Speaker in the last session. This time when his nomination took place, the entire NDA camp appeared united in his support. Top BJP leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda were present during the signing of the proposal letter in favor of Om Birla. Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Anupriya Patel and many other NDA stalwarts were present. On the other hand, Congress MP Deepender Hooda took charge in the nomination of K Suresh, the candidate for the post of Speaker from the opposition. D Raja was also present on this occasion.

So the opposition claimed

The opposition has not decided to stake claim for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker just like that. This is happening because the picture has changed in this Lok Sabha as compared to 2014 and 2019. This time the opposition alliance has emerged stronger. While the ruling camp has won 293 MPs, the opposition has 234. The effect of the changed situation in the Lok Sabha was seen during the claim for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. What happened was that till now the post of Speaker was given to the ruling party only. However, there was a consensus of the opposition in this. The Deputy Speaker used to be from the opposition. However, this time the government was not ready for this. This is where the problem got stuck.

Lok Sabha Speaker Election: There is no consensus between the ruling party and the opposition, for the first time in the history of Lok Sabha, there will be an election for the post of Speaker

Voting for the post of president on June 26

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday 24 June. On the first day, the Protem Speaker was sworn in. Then the Protem Speaker started administering oath to the newly elected members of the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, the question arose as to who would be the next Lok Sabha Speaker. Till now the history has been that the Speaker was elected with the consent of the ruling party and the opposition. However, this is the first time that elections will be held for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker.
