New Delhi. The Indian Premier League season so far has been very exciting. The playoff line-up was decided after the last league match. The last league match of the season between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals could not be played due to rain. Kolkata made it to the playoffs by topping the points table while Rajasthan team slipped to third place. Sunrisers Hyderabad has secured the second position while Royal Challengers Bangalore has made it to the playoffs by finishing fourth.

IPL 2024 has moved towards its final phase. Everyone's eyes are on whether the playoffs will also be affected after the rain interruption in the league matches. IPL qualifier is to be played on 21st May i.e. Tuesday. There will be a match between Kolkata and Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. Although there is no shadow of rain on this match, but we will tell you what will happen if the match is affected.

Who will benefit from the disruption caused by rain?
If there is any interruption in the IPL Qualifier due to rain, it will be the responsibility of the umpire to make it a minimum of 5 overs each. If this is not possible then the result will be decided through super over. Even if the Super Over is not conducted due to rain, the ranking of the points table will decide the team reaching the final. Kolkata team is on top and Hyderabad is at second place. Therefore, in case the match does not take place, Gautam Gambhir's team will reach the IPL final without playing.

Hyderabad will get a second chance
After the league matches in IPL, the qualifiers are played between the top two teams in the points table. The winning team advances directly to the finals while the losing team gets a chance to play the winners of the third and fourth-placed teams. Even if Hyderabad's match with Kolkata gets washed out due to rain, it will still get a second chance to reach the final.
