On the strength of KL Rahul's captaincy innings and Quinton de Kock's half-century, Lucknow Super Giants registered a spectacular victory by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in the 34th match of IPL. This is LSG's fourth win in 7 matches while CSK's third defeat in 7 matches. Chasing the target of 177 runs at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants team won by scoring 180 runs at the loss of 2 wickets with 6 balls remaining. Captain KL Rahul played the highest innings of 82 runs for Lucknow. De Kock was out after playing an innings of 54 runs. With the fourth win, LSG is at fifth position in the points table with 8 points while CSK is at third position with the same number of points.

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave an explosive start to Lucknow Super Giants while chasing the target of 177 runs. Both the batsmen thrashed the Chennai Super Kings bowlers. KL Rahul scored his fifty in 31 balls while De Kock scored a half-century in 41 balls. LSG completed 100 runs on the fifth ball of the 11th over. Rahul and De Kock laid the foundation of victory by making a partnership of 134 runs for the first wicket. LSG got its first blow in the form of de Kock in the 15th over. He was caught by Mustafizur Rahman at the hands of Dhoni. De Kock scored 54 runs on 43 balls. KL Rahul was caught by Jadeja on the ball of Mathisa Pathirana on the personal score of 82 runs. Rahul hit 9 fours and 3 sixes in 53 balls. Nicholas Pooran returned unbeaten on 23 runs while Marcus Stoinis scored 8 unbeaten runs.

Jadeja's fighting half-century
Earlier, with Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten half-century, Chennai Super Kings scored 176 runs for 6 wickets. Jadeja played an unbeaten inning of 57 runs in 40 balls with five fours and one six. He made a partnership of 51 runs for the sixth wicket with Moeen Ali (30 runs), while Mahendra Singh Dhoni finally played an unbeaten inning of 28 runs with three fours and two sixes in nine balls, taking the team's score beyond 170 runs.
