Or how many balls was the fastest fifty scored or how many times fifty was scored on less than 15 balls.
In the 17-year history of IPL, there have been 6 such occasions when a batsman scored fifty in 15 balls or less. Yusuf Pathan had hit fifty in 15 balls in IPL 2014. At that time this was the record of the fastest fifty. Yusuf Pathan had played this record innings for Kolkata Knight Riders against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunil Narine and Nicklas Puran have also scored fifty in 15 balls each.
KL Rahul broke Pathan's record
The record of fastest fifty made in IPL 2014 remained intact only for three years. In the year 2018, KL Rahul broke Yusuf Pathan's (15) record by scoring fifty in 14 balls. Four years later, Pat Cummins also scored fifty on 14 balls for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Now the record is in the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal
Once again the record of fastest fifty was made in IPL 2023. Yashasvi Jaiswal had hit fifty in 13 balls at the age of 21. He played this innings for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders. During this inning, Yashasvi had given away 26 runs in the very first over of the innings. His record still stands today.
