New Delhi : Now only two days are left for the results of the Lok Sabha elections to be announced. Before the announcement of the election results, there is a stir in the opposition camp India Alliance. Exit polls have predicted the return of NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the leaders of India Alliance met the Election Commission. The delegation of various parties included in the India Alliance included Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Salman Khurshid, DMK's TR Balu, Sitaram Yechury, Left Party's D Raja. Issues related to counting of postal ballots, counting of EVMs, final declaration of results were raised before the Commission on behalf of the delegation.

The issue of counting of postal ballots was raised

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, “In this election, we have come close to the elections for the third time. The first issue is of postal ballots, which is a well-known process. Postal ballots prove to be decisive in the result, so the Election Commission has a provision, under which it is said that the postal ballots will be counted first… Our complaint was that the Election Commission has removed it from the 2019 guidelines, the result of which is that even after the complete counting of EVMs, it is not mandatory to declare the count of postal ballots till the end… It is necessary that the postal ballots which prove to be decisive should be counted first.”

Request for strict monitoring during vote counting

Regarding the meeting with the Election Commission of India, Congress leader Salman Khurshid said that we had requested for very strict monitoring during the counting process. We were given a satisfactory answer by the commission on this. Khurshid said that we did not question any rules, but ensured that they were followed and done honestly. He said that the meeting was very promising
