Netherlands Minister Schreinmacher on Thursday called India a “big geopolitical player” for the Netherlands.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work in making India “really an important geopolitical player”.

In an interview with ANI, Schreinmacher said that India and the Netherlands have a “very good economic partnership”. He said the two countries have economic ties worth about 20 billion euros and believes they can only increase this number.

Asked about PM Modi's work for India, the Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation said, “Well, you see India becoming a really important geopolitical player, and I think That it is also because of the way your Prime Minister works.” And has put India on the map. So in that sense you can say that he has a big role in that sense.”

Highlighting India's role in the Indo-Pacific, Schreinmacher said India is a big geopolitical player and economic player for the Netherlands.

He said, “For us, it is very important that we see India as a really big geopolitical player and economic player in the region. So when we talk about Indo-Pacific stability and security, we cannot do it without India. So we need India, and that's why I am here to enhance this cooperation when it comes to maritime security, but of course, as the Trade Minister, to see that we enhance our economic relations. Where can it be improved? We already have good economic relations, but we can always improve it.
