“India cannot be Viksit without Viksit Kashmir”, says Union Minister Hardeep S Puri

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri stressed the important role of Kashmir in India's development at the 'Developed India Ambassador Meetup' held in Srinagar on Saturday.

Addressing the audience, Minister Puri said, “India cannot develop without a developed Kashmir. The Prime Minister said that it is his dream that India becomes or will become a 'developed country' or a 'developed nation' by 2047.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his vision for India to become a developed nation by 2047, and Minister Puri has underlined the collective effort required to achieve this goal.

Minister Puri said, “India will become a developed nation by 2047 or even earlier, but many people will have to play a role in this.”

“The Prime Minister sets the coordinates as the lead agent of change, but he has to be supported by others who believe in that vision.”

Highlighting the current economic situation, Minister Puri said, “Right now, we are at US$4 trillion. “By 2040, our economy will be worth US$40 trillion.”

He envisioned that when India achieved the US$40 trillion economy, it would not just be a 'golden bird' but 'the envy of the world'.

During his address, Minister Puri referred to India's historical economic importance by citing historian Angus Maddison of Cambridge University, who documented India's contribution to the global economy in the year 1700.

Puri asserts, “During the year 1700, India was called the ‘golden bird’. According to Angus Maddison, a historian at the University of Cambridge who has extensively documented economic history, it has been shown conclusively that in the year 1700, until the Battle of Plassey, India's contribution to the global economy was about 25 percent of global GDP. percent or more.

“In 2014, people used to say that India was one of the five fragile economies. Since 2014, we have moved up to the 5th position,” Minister Puri commented.

Minister Puri said, “Within the next 5 years, India will be among the top 3 economies of the world.”

The Developing India Ambassadors Meeting served as a platform to discuss Kashmir's integral role in India's economic progress and contribution to the country's development agenda.

The event saw a gathering of influential personalities, including startup leaders, women influencers and eminent personalities from Kashmir.
