keep drinking water
Keep drinking water frequently even if you are not thirsty. Drink plenty of fluids. Also wear light, light coloured, loose and cotton clothes. Use sunglasses, umbrella/hat, shoes or slippers while going out in the sun.
Avoid exercise
Avoid strenuous exercise when the temperature is high outside. Avoid working out outside between 12pm and 3pm. Carry water with you while traveling.
Stay away from alcohol and tea
If you are fond of tea or coffee, then keep in mind that IMD has given clear instructions to avoid alcohol, tea, coffee and carbonated drinks in the summer season. These things can cause dehydration in the body.
Reduce your protein intake
Avoid high protein foods and do not eat stale food. Also, use a hat or umbrella while working outside. Keep a wet cloth on the head, neck, face and hands.
Increase your intake of these things
If you want to keep your body cool in summer and avoid heat stroke, then consume ORS solution, lassi, torani i.e. rice water, lemonade, buttermilk etc. throughout the day. Consuming these things can remove water deficiency in the body.
Keep the house cool
Use curtains, shutters or cloth to block out sunlight. Open windows at night. Run a fan, wear wet clothes and take frequent cold baths. Consult a doctor immediately if you feel sick or unwell. Do not leave children or pets in vehicles. Keep animals in the shade and give them plenty of water.
