New Delhi. There is big news for the drivers of the country. The Road Transport Ministry has said that at present there will be no change in toll rates in the country. The ministry has said that toll rates will not be revised now. The Ministry has cited the Election Commission for this, that is, the old toll rates will remain the same till the elections.

Earlier, news was coming that new toll rates will be implemented in many places in the country from April 1. It had also been announced to increase toll rates by 5 percent in Lucknow and surrounding areas.

ECI had told this to NHAI
The Election Commission of India (ECI) had asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to implement the new toll rates on highways after the Lok Sabha elections. Generally, rates on most toll highways in the country are increased from April 1, but the Election Commission said that the new rates should be implemented only after the Lok Sabha elections. According to documents obtained by PTI, ECI has asked NHAI to postpone the toll fee increase. ECI said this in response to a letter from the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in this regard.

Lok Sabha elections will start from April 19
It is noteworthy that the elections for the 18th Lok Sabha in the country will start on April 19 and will continue till June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
