But the BSF got a tip-off and this consignment of gold was recovered from the house of an accused. Big action by BSF

The BSF said that this gold was found from Alok's house in Haldarpada village near the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. As soon as the BSF got input about this, the soldiers of Border Outpost Gunarmath, 5th Battalion, launched a special operation in Haldarpada village from around 3 pm on May 25 and surrounded Alok's house from all sides. After this, the house was searched in the presence of some influential people of the village. From where the biggest consignment of gold this year was recovered. Accused Alok told that he came in contact with a gold smuggler from Bangladesh in the last days of March 2024.

Gold worth Rs 12 crore seized

The accused told BSF that the Bangladeshi smuggler thought that Lok Sabha elections were going to be held in India on 25 May. Then he would take gold biscuits from the fields adjacent to the border and throw them over the fencing towards West Bengal. From there, accused Alok would pick up those gold biscuits and take them to his home. Because due to the elections, there might be fewer BSF soldiers on the border. His plan was also successful. He even brought the gold to his home, but was still caught.

This is how the matter was revealed

Actually, there are still many such villages on the India-Bangladesh border. Where the fields are beyond the BSF fencing towards Bangladesh. Indian farmers go there to do farming after getting checked at the gate installed at the BSF post. Then after farming, they go back to their village after getting checked at the BSF gate. But after crossing the fencing, the fields are towards Bangladesh. This game of gold smuggling is going on from there. From where gold biscuits are thrown towards India after crossing the fencing many times. Then there are some who work in the fields and are involved in gold smuggling. They pick up those gold biscuits and hide them in their house. In this way, this game of gold smuggling was happening more during the Lok Sabha elections. But this consignment of gold was caught on the basis of the input received by the BSF.
