Dangerous batsman who created havoc in IPL enters T20 World Cup: Report


New Delhi. Young batsman Jack Fraser McGurk, who attracted everyone's attention with his fearless batting in the Indian Premier League, may get a place in the T20 World Cup team. This batsman, who missed a place in the team selected for the ICC mega tournament of Australia cricket team, is reported to have got backdoor entry. 22 year old McGurk has performed brilliantly for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. McGurk, who has not yet made his debut in T20 International cricket, has not got a place in the T20 World Cup squad as Australia already has David Warner, Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh for the top three spots.

Batting all-rounder Short has played nine out of the last 14 T20 matches for Australia. He started the innings in five of these and has also played Big Bash League in the last two seasons. According to ESPN Cricinfo, “Australia's chief selector George Bailey had suggested taking reserves with him for the World Cup but now he is also taking Fraser McGurk along with Short.”

The Australian team will leave for West Indies on Thursday. He has to play two practice matches against Namibia and West Indies in Trinidad on 28th and 30th May. Head, Cameron Green, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell will join the team after playing the IPL playoffs. Australia has to play its first match against Oman in Barbados on 5 June.
