Dalai Lama met American delegation in Dharamsala, why is the dragon keeping an eye on this?

New Delhi: Just two days ago, India had strongly objected to the mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement of Pakistan and China. India had indirectly told China not to try to recognize Pakistan by supporting projects on Indian land occupied by it. Now the news has come that a high-level delegation from America will visit Dharamshala in India and will meet the Dalai Lama there. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi will also be a part of this delegation. Apart from this, the delegation includes Republican Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul, member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory W. Meeks and many other members.

In this press note of the House Foreign Committee, Chairman McCall has also said that India is the world's largest democracy and an important partner of America. Let us tell you that America has recently passed a bill which challenges China's claim on Tibet. Along with this, it also emphasizes on talks between China and the Dalai Lama. After getting approval from the House of Representatives on June 12, it also got the green signal in the Senate. It is being said about the 'Tibet China Dispute Resolution Promoting Act' that it will help in fighting the misinformation being spread by China about the history and people of Tibet. Actually, this bill rejects China's claim that Tibet has always been a part of it.

One China policy needs a review

Recently, China had objected to Taiwan's President Lai Ching Te congratulating Modi and PM Modi's response. China says that there is only one China in the world, so China builds diplomatic relations with other countries on the basis that they consider Taiwan an integral part of China. India has also been doing the same till recently, but in the last few years, such messages have been given to China that distance can be maintained even from the One China Policy.

Experts also say that now the time has come to completely review the One China Policy adopted for China and along with this we should also come forward to support the Free Tibet Movement. Especially when China is constantly taking decisions that irritate India's sovereignty. Whether it is the mention of Kashmir in its joint statement with Pakistan or changing the names of many places in Arunachal Pradesh in April. Recently, while taking charge of the Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Minister Jaishankar has also said that focusing on pending issues with China and Pakistan will be one of the key priorities of the NDA government.
