What the Lancet study revealed

CML affects a large number of people worldwide. It is estimated to affect 1.2 to 1.5 million individuals. Despite its prevalence, CML is relatively rare compared to other forms of leukemia. It accounts for about 15 percent of all leukemia cases. A recent study published in the journal Lancet showed that the disease is affecting much younger individuals. In India, most patients are diagnosed between the ages of 30 and 40. In comparison, in Western countries it is diagnosed at an average age of 64 years.
