New Delhi. The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA next month. The opening match of the tournament will be played between the USA and Canada on June 1, while the title match will be held on June 29. The T20 World Cup has been organized 8 times so far, in which West Indies and England have achieved the distinction of becoming champions twice each, while India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have become champions once each.

So far, some pairs of brothers have been seen playing together in the T20 World Cup, in which India's Pathan brothers – Irfan and Yusuf, Pakistan's Akmal brothers – Kamran and Umar, Australia's Michael Hussey and David Hussey, South Africa's Albie and Morne and New Zealand's Brendon and Nathan McCullum are at the forefront. Irfan and Yusuf Pathan

Irfan and Yusuf Pathan are the first pair of brothers to play together in the T20 World Cup. New Zealand's McCullum brothers Nathan and Brendon McCullum played together in five T20 World Cups. Among the two brothers, the younger brother Brendon earned more fame in cricket. He was part of the Kiwi team as a wicketkeeper batsman in the 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014 T20 World Cups. In 25 matches of the tournament, he scored 637 runs with the help of one century and two half-centuries. Elder brother Nathan, playing as an off-break bowler, took 23 wickets in 22 matches at an average of 17.34. Nathan played 63 and Brendon played 71 T20 matches.

South Africa's Morkel brothers – Albie Morkel and Morne Morkel have also played together in the T20 World Cup. Elder brother Albie was part of the team as an all-rounder. He was a right-handed batsman and medium pace bowler while Morne used to bowl fast with his right hand. Both Albie and Morne were members of the South African team in five T20 World Cups from 2007 to 2014. During this, Morne took 24 wickets in 17 matches. Albie scored 308 runs in 25 matches of the T20 World Cup.

David Hussey scored 234 runs in 10 matches at an average of 26. West Indies cricketers Dwayne and Darren Bravo are half brothers. Dwayne played international cricket as an all-rounder and younger brother Darren as a left-handed batsman. Both played together in the 2012 T20 World Cup. Elder brother Dwayne scored 530 runs at an average of 21.20 in addition to taking 27 wickets in 34 T20 World Cup matches between 2007 and 2021. The only World Cup of 2012 was also a disappointment for Darren and he could score only 16 runs in two matches.
