This train used to run from
Till 1965, this train ran in the name of Jodhpur Railway. After that, operation of Thar Express started again in the year 2006, but before that there were many movements also. When this train started again, the Pakistani migrants had given the message – It is a good thing – by getting pamphlets printed in four languages – Urdu, Hindi, English and Sindhi. Due to the closure of the train, this is the only means of maintaining kinship between the people living in the two countries, which has been closed again.

The last round took place in 2019
After the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the effect of tension in India-Pakistan relations was visible on the 'rail of relations' Thar Link Express. The last trip of this train was from Bhagat Ki Kothi to Pakistan at midnight on 9 August 2019. In return, this train left Pakistan at midnight on 10th August and reached Jodhpur on Sunday, 11th August. After that till date this train has not been started again.

Government should think about poor families
Due to closure of Thar Express, it has become difficult for people to travel between India and Pakistan. If Thar Express is opened, poor Hindu families can come for a ticket of Rs 200. These displaced people say that in order to start the Thar Express, we demand from the Prime Minister that along with opening the Attari Munnabav road, the Attari border should also be opened. Only rail will bring the poor people, this is the only means which should be provided to them.

Thar Express was lifesaver
Thar Express was like a lifeline for the people sitting in both the countries. Some people got their daughter married here and some got their sister married. Someone's brother remained in Pakistan. Someone's sister is in India. The only way for all of them to meet was Attari Bagha border. Thar Express, which started in 2006, acted as a lifesaver in these relationships. But after 2019, Thar Express train service is closed. Thar Express ran from Bhagat Ki Kothi station in Jodhpur to Karachi every Friday night from 18 February 2006. Earlier this service was suspended for 41 years.

2800 km round trip
Along with the Pakistani migrants settled in India, their relatives living in both the countries are also troubled by the lack of rail service. Now the only option to travel to Pakistan is Attari Bagha. Residents of western Rajasthan and Sindh of Pakistan are finding it very expensive to travel through Attari Bagha border by traveling a distance of about 2800 kilometers. Even traveling such a long distance is not easy. There is also a fear of robbery and untoward incident on the way. Therefore, the demand to start Thar Express once again is rising loudly.
