New Delhi: India will send a team of counter-terrorism and internal security experts to France to help provide security during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. India and France have agreed to cooperate to strengthen security arrangements during the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. This cooperation will strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, which already cooperate in a number of areas including security, space and nuclear energy. This is particularly important as France has suffered several terrorist attacks in recent years.

India is all set to provide its expertise to France in security measures during the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Paris in July 2024. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs held detailed discussions with their French counterparts and both sides mutually agreed. Send a delegation of counter-terrorism and internal security experts to Paris ahead of the mega event. India has also faced terrorism and has gained expertise in security to deal with it.

France has supported India on many issues. France has consistently condemned terrorism and supported India following the February 2019 Pulwama attack. After the Pulwama attack, France helped condemn terrorism and ban Pakistan-based terrorist Hafiz Saeed. France had also supported India's request to stop Pakistan's efforts to list innocent Indian nationals under the UNSC 1267 sanctions committee on the basis of fabricated charges.

India and France have been strategic partners for a long time, diplomatic relations have been established between the two countries since 1947 and this partnership was transformed into a strategic partnership in 1998. Last year both the countries completed 25 years of their strategic partnership. This partnership includes areas like defence, space programs and nuclear energy cooperation.

This cooperation will be beneficial for both the countries and will help them better face terrorism and other security challenges. India has successfully hosted many major international events, including the G20 summit in 2023. This cooperation symbolizes the strong ties between India and France and the commitment of both countries to counter terrorism and other security challenges.
