Shah Rukh will be the first Indian to receive the 'Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism' award. Earlier, this award has been given to Italian filmmaker Francesco Rossi, American singer Harry Belafonte and Malaysian director Tsai Ming-liang.
This award will be given at Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland
Khan (58) will receive the award at the Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland on August 10. The festival, which begins on August 7, will also screen Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2002 film Devdas. Shah Rukh will also interact with the public at the Forum Spazio cinema on August 11.
Over 100 movies of different genres
The festival organisers said, “The award will be presented in honour of Khan's remarkable career in Indian cinema, which spans over 100 films across a variety of genres.”
