RCB has reached the playoffs with 14 points 4 teams have equal 14-14 points

New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore have made it to the IPL playoffs by registering a six-win win. Interestingly, apart from RCB, despite three other teams also having the same number of points, people are curious to know how only RCB got the playoff ticket. RCB had a very bad start in the tournament. Initially he lost 7 out of his 8 matches. Despite this, the team captained by Faf du Plessis won the last 6 consecutive matches in the league stage. They won their last league match against CSK by 27 runs.

In the match against Chennai Super Kings, RCB needed to win by 18 runs to reach the playoffs. Batting first, RCB scored 218 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. CSK had a target of 219 runs. He scored only 191 runs for 7 wickets. Due to this defeat of CSK, RCB got advantage in netnetrate. This is what made the difference. RCB qualified for the playoffs with a +0.459 netrunrate. CSK definitely had 14 points but its net rate was less than RCB. CSK's netrate was +0.392 while Delhi Capitals' netrate was in minus. Delhi had 14 points but their net run rate was -0.377, while Lucknow Super Giants had a net run rate of -0.667. All these teams had the same 14 points but RCB got the playoff ticket on the basis of better net run rate.

As soon as I hit a six on the first ball, I remembered last year… The bowler applied ointment on the wounds, told how he bowled the 20th over instead of the 19th.

RCB scored 218 runs for 5 wickets
Batting first, RCB scored 218 runs for 5 wickets. Captain Faf du Plessis played an inning of 54 runs while Virat Kohli was out after scoring 47 runs. Rajat Patidar returned to the pavilion after scoring 41 runs on 23 balls. Cameron Green scored unbeaten 38 runs on 17 balls. It was not easy for CSK to achieve this target. He lost wickets at regular intervals. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's dismissal in the last over was a big blow for CSK.

Jadeja and Dhoni's innings did not work for CSK
For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja scored unbeaten 42 runs on 22 balls while Dhoni was out after scoring 25 runs on 13 balls. However, this innings of both the batsmen came at a time when it was too late. CSK could not compensate for the loss in between. After this defeat, he was out of the playoff race for the third consecutive season.
