Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first against Delhi Capitals. The team kept the Delhi team on the backfoot by bowling tightly in the beginning. The team had lost four wickets for just 44 runs. After this, captain Rishabh Pant played such an inning which changed the entire course of the match. The team which had scored only 105 runs by the end of 12 overs and reaching 160 runs was finding it difficult. Pant's stormy innings took the score beyond 200 runs.

In the last over of Mohit Sharma, the captain scored a total of 31 runs by hitting 4 sixes and 4 fours. He scored unbeaten 88 runs with the help of 8 sixes and 5 fours on 43 balls.
