Workers, leaders, voters, supporters… all are giving messages, are these signs of BJP's downfall?

New Delhi: Has the BJP collapsed? There can be no concrete answer to this, but analysis of the circumstances, the mood of the top leaders, their functioning and reactions to the election results indicate a decline. What happened to the BJP, known for taking quick decisions! The results of the Lok Sabha elections came on June 4, but did the BJP take any major decision on the lower-than-expected performance? Jagat Prakash Nadda's term also ended on June 30, but even after 15 days, there is no discussion, leave alone selection of a new national president! The BJP was once called a party with a difference, but in that BJP, everything is seen for which the Congress used to be infamous – giving more importance to sycophancy than work. The top leaders are being so arbitrary in handling the party that the feeling of disappointment is deepening day by day. Despite all the negative signals from the Lok Sabha to the by-elections, the process of calling leaders from other parties and making its own workers and leaders feel cheated for years continues unabated. So is the party now ignoring the warning messages being sent by its own leaders, workers and supporters? It seems like.

What happened to the quick decision making party?

DK Singh, political editor of news website The Print, says in one of his articles that the country chose Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister in 2014 because Manmohan Singh had developed an image of a PM who cannot take decisions. Voters did not like this. When Modi became the Prime Minister, he took rapid decisions to live up to people's expectations – demonetization, surgical strike, air strike. Then Modi sent senior party leaders to the advisory board, took action against opposition leaders accused of corruption. All this proved helpful in strengthening Narendra Modi's image as a strong PM. The result was that the public brought him back to power for the second time in 2019 by giving him more seats. But now not only the voters, but also the party workers and leaders are openly telling the party – wake up, otherwise it will be too late.

BJP workers disappointed with parachute leaders

Let us explain the results of by-elections held on 13 assembly seats in different states. Out of these 13 seats in seven states, BJP has won only two seats. It is clear that the atmosphere of disappointment among the party cadre and voters is not limited to any one area. It seems that BJP wants to create a record of discouraging its own workers by bringing leaders from other parties. Now it is becoming clear that by giving preference to outside leaders over leaders and workers dedicated to the party for decades, BJP can go to the abyss very fast. Its indication was seen in the Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh to Maharashtra. Now when the by-elections were held, the BJP cadre and its supporters clearly told that no one likes parachute candidates.

The election results are giving a clear indication

In Himachal Pradesh, four out of six candidates who left Congress and contested by-elections on BJP ticket lost. This happened last month. In the recently held elections, three independent candidates got candidature on BJP ticket. Two of them lost badly and one somehow managed to win. Talking about the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, out of the 26 candidates who came from other parties and were given tickets by BJP, 21 lost. These 26 joined BJP only in 2024. By the way, a total of 110 leaders who joined BJP from other parties since 2014 were given tickets by the party this time. Out of these, 69 candidates lost. It is clear that the public is no longer ready to turn a blind eye to make Modi win.

Gadkari, Dhumal, Meena, Mishra… everyone gave a message

It is not that the party leaders are not understanding this. They are understanding and are also trying to explain it to the top leadership. Recently, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari clearly said in the Goa BJP Working Committee meeting that we are a different kind of party. If we also make the mistakes of Congress, then what is the use of removing it from power and forming our government? Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was about to fall on its own, but our party BJP acted in haste and everything was ruined.

Rajasthan minister Kirod Lal Meena had written several letters to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma warning him of corruption and laxity in government work. When he was not heard, he resigned from the post of minister. West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh expressed displeasure over the fact that the top leadership removed state leaders from easily winning seats and gave them tickets from challenging seats. The result was that the results were worse than before. Uttar Pradesh Badalpur MLA Ramesh Chandra Mishra has said that the situation of BJP in the state is very serious and there is no hope of victory in the 2027 assembly elections.

OPINION: Now the time has come, BJP now has to become a party with a difference, know where the saffron party is making mistakes

Can we expect anything from BJP?

The question is, will the top leadership of BJP now listen to the messages being continuously sent by its own leaders, workers, supporters, voters? It is possible that it may not listen. This is because it feels that it is correct to analyze the election results through the prism of vote percentage. It feels that the voter is still with the party, otherwise the vote percentage would have fallen drastically. Is this true? Yes, this is possible. The voter has not gone away from BJP even today, but it is not very difficult to understand when his disappointment will turn into protest.
