Visit to Russia in July, Ukraine in August and now this statement has come from the Russian President in the month of September. India's stance has not changed since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said many times that India supports the policy of development and not expansionism. Many countries of the world including Ukraine have said that India can play an important role in stopping this war. Now Russia is also saying the same thing. PM Modi can play the role of mediator and efforts have been made from his side to ensure that this war does not escalate further. When PM Modi returns from Ukraine, he will talk to both the US President and the Russian President. He also shared the experience PM Modi had from this visit. This increases the hope even more.
After returning from Ukraine, Modi spoke to both Russia and America
After returning from his visit to Ukraine in August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone. He shared the experiences from his Ukraine visit and reiterated India's commitment to a quick, lasting and peaceful solution to the conflict with Ukraine. Modi had informed US President Joe Biden about his Ukraine visit and expressed India's full support to restore peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. The US stands with Ukraine on one side and with Russia on the other. The US had initially tried to rope in India. Even when Modi visited Russia for the first time after the war in his third term, many Western countries also raised questions. But India's stance did not change. India criticized the war. When Modi returns from Ukraine and shares his views, the trust towards India increases even more.
Zelensky also trusts India
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also said that India can play an important role in global diplomatic efforts to end the war between his country and Russia. Addressing Indian media persons after bilateral talks during Modi's Ukraine visit, Zelensky said Modi's visit is historic. Modi's visit to Ukraine was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since Ukraine's independence in 1991. The visit came six weeks after his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in July. Modi had earlier told Zelensky that both Ukraine and Russia should sit together without wasting time to find ways to end the war. Modi said India has been in favour of peace since the beginning of the war in February 2022.
America also believes that India can play an important role
National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby at the White House, the official residence of the US President, has said that the US welcomes any country that wants to try to help end the conflict in Ukraine. Kirby was asked a day earlier on Wednesday if he thinks India can play a role in ending the war. Kirby said, any country that is willing to help end this war and does so keeping in mind the privileges of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the privileges of the Ukrainian people, his plan to establish a just peace, we will certainly welcome its role. Asked if he thinks India can play a role in establishing peace, the White House official said, we certainly hope so.
