A 30-year-old man from Lahore had an accident four years ago in which alkali fell on his face and he lost his eyesight. Two cornea transplants in his left eye had also failed. Eventually, Dr. Qureshi Maskati, an eye surgeon from Mumbai, decided to help him. Dr. Maskati met the patient during a conference in Pakistan. He felt that the patient's eyes could be cured with an artificial cornea. However, the patient could not get a visa to India for treatment. After which the doctor decided to treat him in Sri Lanka.

The patient returned to Pakistan
Dr. Maskati told that I was going to a conference in Colombo. So I asked for a license from the Sri Lankan Medical Council to operate on that patient and they gave me permission.Dr. Maskati, with the help of local eye surgeon Dr. Kusum Ratnayake, operated on the patient in Colombo on 13 September.
The patient regained partial vision within 48 hours of the operation. He/she returned to his/her home on 24th September. The patient told that he is able to see his family for the first time after four years. He told that while I was cleaning the attic of my house, a bottle of alkaline solution broke and its contents fell on my head and face.
