New Delhi. MS Dhoni is always seen helping his teammates. He is always alert for his bowlers. He not only sets the field for them but also gives them tips on line-length. But would you believe that there have been many such occasions on the field when Captain Cool refuses to help his bowlers. Harbhajan Singh narrated one such incident when Dhoni refused to help Shardul Thakur.
Shardul Thakur has played four years in the IPL under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. He played for Chennai Super Kings from 2018 to 2021. Harbhajan Singh mentioned a match of the IPL itself. During a conversation with Taruwar Kohli, Dhoni said, 'We were playing for Chennai Super Kings. I was fielding at fine leg. Kane Williamson hit several fours off Shardul Thakur's ball. On this I went to Dhoni to advise Shardul Thakur to change the length. But Dhoni did not do so.'
Harbhajan Singh further says, 'Dhoni told me that if I help Shardul now, he will never learn. Dhoni wanted Shardul to understand his mistake himself and correct it. Dhoni believes that you learn quickly only from your mistakes.'
Harbhajan Singh said that Dhoni remains calm. He knows what to do next. He knows how to win matches. He never runs after personal records. His focus is on the team's victory and this is the biggest reason for his success.
