WhatsApp releases Channels feature; Katrina Kaif, Diljit Dosanjh join in

​Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is launching a new WhatsApp Channels feature for users in more than 150 countries.

The new feature is a broadcast service that allows users to receive private updates from celebrities, sports teams, and famous leaders. It aims to establish these platforms as central hubs for content creators to interact with their followers.

​The Indian cricket team and celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Vijay Deverakonda, Neha Kakkar, and others have launched their WhatsApp Channels.

Unique In WhatsApp, channels operate separately from regular chats, and followers within a channel cannot see each other.

Any WhatsApp user will have the ability to create a channel on the app by clicking on the 'Create channel' option, making it a versatile tool for content sharing and communication. WhatsApp Channels was initially launched in Colombia and Singapore in June.

Users will have access to recommended WhatsApp Channels based on their region and popularity. Similar to regular WhatsApp chats, users will be able to use emojis to react to messages within a channel.
